Non-Potable Service Area - North Marana
Limits as of 08-2014
A Non-Potable Water Timeline
The District has provided non-potable water from its canal system since its inception.
In 2000, a development plan was established for North Marana, to include the ability to access low cost non-potable water for use in open spaces, private homes and other greenbelt areas through a non-potable delivery system.
In 2002, Marana entered into agreement with developers to provide non-potable water for North Marana, but Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) regulations made utilization of non-potable water impractical, resulting in the continued use of potable water for lawns and green belt areas.
From 2010 to 2012, the Town of Marana, in cooperation with ADWR, worked with Cortaro-Marana Irrigation District to develop a plan allowing the District to deliver non-potable water to North Marana.
July 2014 – Final approvals on proposed improvements for non-potable water distribution.
August 2014 – Construction begins.
December 2014 – Started delivery of non-potable water to North Marana residents.
